Formal Recruitment

The process of formal recruitment can be confusing and a little difficult to understand at first.  As a potential new member, you will have the opportunity to learn more about each chapter's scholarship, service, and sisterhood during the rounds.  Throughout this process, you will speak with women in our community who will help you to better understand our values and what it means to be a member of the Panhellenic community at NC State.

GET INVOLVED

September 1st

On this day, you will ride the bus to McKimmon Center with your Sorority Recruitment Counselors.  You will have the opportunity to meet with all 10 sororities that participate in formal recruitment.  Each round will last about 20 minutes and you will have a chance to learn about the chapter’s leadership opportunities and on campus involvement. This day is very casual so please wear your provided recruitment shirt, shorts or a skirt, and comfortable shoes.

LIVE AND LEARN

September 2nd

During the second round, you will visit a maximum of 8 sororities.  The rounds will last 30 minutes each and this will be your time to learn about each sororities academic initiatives, their sisterhood, and what it is like to live in the house.  Please note that living in the house during your second year of membership is an expectation for members.  Attire for this round is dressier and we recommend wearing a light dress, or a skirt paired with a nice top, nothing with too thick of material, and comfortable shoes.

GIVE BACK

September 3rd

For the third round, you will visit a maximum of 5 houses with rounds lasting about 35 minutes.  During Give Back day, you will learn about each chapter’s philanthropic initiatives, both locally and nationally.  This is also when you will learn about the events that they host each semester to support their philanthropy.  We suggest a dress with nice jewelry and flats or wedges. You could still have 5 rounds, so heels may be impractical for walking from house to house.

PREF NIGHT

September 4th

During preference round, you will visit a maximum of 2 houses. This is a special ceremony that is intended to share with you their bond of sisterhood.  Each ceremony will last 45 minutes and give you a final opportunity to speak with sisters.  Preference night is the most formal night. You will have one or two parties to attend, so if you feel comfortable in heels this is the night to wear them. You should wear a nicer dress and feel free to bring a cardigan since it might get chilly later in the night.
