FORMAL RECRUITMENT

The process of formal recruitment can be confusing and a little difficult to understand at first. As a potential new member, you will have the opportunity to learn more about each chapter's leadership, scholarship, service, and sisterhood during each round of Formal Recruitment. Throughout this process, you will speak with women in our community who will help you to better understand our values and what it means to be a member of the Panhellenic community at NC State.  Along the way, you will have a designated Sorority Recruitment Counselor, who is a woman who is apart of the Panhellenic Community, but decided to disassociation from their chapter in order to help lead potential new members during the recruitment process. They are there to help support you unbiasedly, helping lead you to find your home!

During the Fall of 2024, the Panhellenic Association will be participating in a hybrid Formal Recruitment over the course of Labor Day Weekend (August 30th-September 2nd). Friday, August 30th, will be held virtually on Zoom. Saturday, August 31st, Sunday, September 1st, and Monday, September 2th, will be held in person. Formal Recruitment is a mutual selection process between potential new members and our chapters, and is divided into four days--Get Involved, Make a Difference, Live N' Learn, Preference and Bid Night. With one of the Formal Recruitment events falling on school days, please note that arrangements will be made to accommodate any academic schedule conflicts!

GET INVOLVED

This round will take place over Zoom.

On this day, you will meet virtually with your Sorority Recruitment Counselors. You will have the opportunity to meet with all 11 sororities that participate in Formal Recruitment. Each round will last about 20 minutes and you will have a chance to learn about the chapter’s leadership opportunities and their campus involvement. We suggest a nice top with jewelry.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

This round will take place in-person.

For the second round, you will visit a maximum of 8 chapters with rounds lasting about 30 minutes. During Make A Difference day, you will learn about each chapter’s philanthropic initiatives, both locally and nationally. This is also when you will learn about the events that they host each semester to support their philanthropy. This day is more casual so please wear your provided recruitment shirt with whichever bottoms and shoes you choose. Comfort is key!

LIVE AND LEARN

This round will take place in person.

During the third round, you will visit a maximum of 5 chapters. The rounds will last 30 minutes each and this will be your time to learn about each sororities academic initiatives, their sisterhood, new member requirements, and what it is like to live in the house. Please note that living in the house during your second year of membership is an expectation for members. Attire for this round is dressier and we recommend wearing a light dress, or a skirt paired with a nice top, nothing with too thick of material, and comfortable shoes.

PREFERENCE DAY

This round will take place in person.

During preference round, you will visit a maximum of 2 chapters. This is a special ceremony that is intended to share with you their bond of sisterhood. Each ceremony will last 40 minutes and give you a final opportunity to speak with sisters. Preference round is the most formal day. You will have one or two parties to attend, so if you feel comfortable in heels this is the day to wear them. You should wear a nicer dress.
