Dear Potential New Members,

Welcome to NC State’s Panhellenic Community! My name is Julia Burhans, and it is such an honor to serve as Panhellenic President this year and welcome you to such a special community. I am so excited for each and every one of you to begin your journey full of love, growth, friendships, and community. Being a part of the Panhellenic Community is a life-changing experience and fosters so many lifelong connections.

The Panhellenic Community here at NC State has 11 National Panhellenic Conference Sororities and 2 Associate Member Chapters. Each of these chapters is full of so many amazing, incredible women who are passionate about building meaningful relationships, striving for academic excellence, supporting each other, and supporting the community around them. This community is such a special place, full of such a unique and diverse group of people. It is a place where individuality is celebrated and encouraged, and a place to be the best version of yourself. 

Coming into NC State as a freshman in the fall of 2023, I felt so lost and confused about where my place on this giant campus was. I knew I was going to try sorority recruitment, and even though I was very excited, I felt very nervous about how it might go. But just after the first day of recruitment, I knew I had made the right choice. Joining a sorority and this community has opened a door for me to so many things I didn’t know I needed. I was surrounded by people who made me feel loved and heard, and who were constantly cheering me. I truly found my home here.

As you all begin your own journey joining this community, I want you to know that it’s okay to feel scared or nervous. Being in college is a time of new beginnings, big changes, and lots of growth. What is truly important is that you stay true to yourself no matter what. Trust yourself and who you are always. You are never alone in this community; we are all here to support you and uplift you.

The experiences and friendships you will make here will last a lifetime. You each bring something unique and valuable to this community, and we are so excited to get to know you. 

Trust yourself, trust the process, and embrace every moment.
