Kappa Delta

Eta Upsilon chapter of Kappa Delta is home to 160 wonderful women who have helped us develop into a chapter that thrives on sisterhood, since our colonization in 2010. We constantly strive to live out our open motto, "Let us strive for that which is Honorable, Beautiful, and Highest,” remembering that we are always wearing our letters.

The Eta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Delta was installed at NC State on October 20, 2010. Since our founding at NC State, we have accomplished many things including winning the Homecoming spirit award, maintaining a high GPA, and raising over $24,000 for our philanthropies this year! We are excited about our most recent achievement, Sopher Cup, which is the highest honor a sorority can get on NC State’s Campus. We attribute our successes to our chapter’s focus on sisterhood and striving for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest.

We, as Kappa Deltas, take pride in our sisterhood. We put a strong emphasis on sisterhood through monthly sisterhood events like boxing, spa night, or even a talent show!  A strong emphasis on scholarship consistently results in a chapter GPA that is above All Women’s Average. We also put a strong emphasis on leadership and campus involvement. Sisters in our chapter hold numerous leadership positions in organizations such as Order of Omega, Presbyterian Campus Ministry, Public Relations Student Society of America, Delta Delta Sigma Honors Fraternity, Pre-Dental Club, Teaching Assistants, Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, Tompkins Textile Student Council, Orientation Leaders, University Ambassadors, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Ambassadors, Poole College of Management Ambassadors, and more!

In addition, our chapter focuses on community service. We hold two main philanthropy events: Pig ‘n Pie every fall and Shamrock ‘n Shag every spring. Pig ‘n Pie is a BBQ and Pie competition for all of the fraternities and sororities. Shamrock ‘n Shag is a dessert reception with beach music for shagging and an awesome silent auction! Both events raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America and SAFEchild! The past two years, we have raised over $45,000 collectively for our philanthropies.

The other aspect of our philanthropy is the Girl Scouts! Through multiple events in the semester, our sisters interact with the Girl Scouts at events like campus tours, Valentine’s Day themed events, Trick or Treat at the KD House, and even the Frozen themed event we had for the winter! All of these events have an underlying way to promote confidence. Created by Kappa Delta in 2009, the Confidence Coalition is an alliance is committed to promoting self-confidence in girls and women so that they may feel empowered to overcome social barriers and be inspired to reach their greatest potential. We believe that by working with the Girl Scouts, our events inspire them to be confident! The Confidence Coalition is a large part of an organization and plays into everything we do as Kappa Deltas.

Kappa Delta welcomes you to NC State! We wish you the best of luck during recruitment and can’t wait to see you!
