PANHELLENIC ASSOCIATION AT NC STATE: SOPHER CUP

The Panhellenic Sopher Cup is named after Mindy Sopher, past Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at NC State, and recognizes the best overall Panhellenic sorority at NC State University. The Sopher Cup is based on a chapter’s Panhellenic participation in programming and initiatives, formal recruitment, scholastic achievement and development, and the Standards of Excellence program sponsored by the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

POINT BREAKDOWN

100 points total are available within the Sopher Cup program. Points are broken down within the following categories:

  • Panhellenic Participation: 30 points available

  • Formal Recruitment: 10 points available

  • Scholastic Achievement/Development: 20 points available

  • Standards of Excellence: 40 points available

    • Sections covered under Standards of Excellence include Involvement,Scholarship,Sisterhood,Service, Philanthropy, and Leadership

Point deadlines will be conducted on a semesterly basis in order to count points in a timely manner and provide chapters with an update on where they stand.

SOPHER CUP RECOGNITION

The Sopher Cup is awarded to the chapter the achieves the highest number during each academic year.

Chapters are recognized as Sopher chapters if they receive 85 points or more during each academic year.

The chapter that receives the Sopher Cup will be recognized at the Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards in the Fall semester, along with being recognized during halftime of the North Carolina State University football Homecoming game. Chapters that receive Sopher status will receive 10% off their Panhellenic dues for the Spring semester, following the FSL Awards in the Fall semester.
