Phi Sigma Rho was initially created when our founders realized they could not take part in the traditional sorority rush schedule, as they had Calculus exam to study for. This led to the creation of the Alpha Chapter of Phi Rho at Purdue.

The interest group for the NC State Beta Beta Chapter of Phi Sigma Rho was created in January of 2023 over a small Zoom call. By November 19th, 2023, we were installed! As we continue to grow, sisters will be able to show their leadership potential through a multitude of positions with the guidance of many experienced alumni and fellow sisters.

Our members are very active in the Raleigh area, taking part in service events with Science Olympiad, Raleigh Rescue Mission, and Feed the Pack on campus. We also have taken part in Light the Night, an event held by our national philanthropy, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This event helps raise money and bring awareness to the prevalence of leukemia and lymphoma across the States.

Sisterhood plays such a large part in what makes Phi Rho so special. Being women and non-binary people in STEM can be difficult. On top of having a demanding and difficult courseload, STEM is typically a male-dominated field. Having sisters to support you in academically rigorous classes can make a difficult semester much less daunting. The encouragement and empathy that our sisters provide allows for bonds that will last much longer than the years you'll spend at NC State.
